Personal ThoughtsWIPThe forests and mountains here are littered with dozens of ancient castle ruins... and it's always been one of my favorite things to explore 'em.
I took the original photo at the top of my favorite ruin - the Château de Lœwenstein :
Hidden in the depth of the forest, only reachable after a lengthy and tiresome hike. But damn is it worth it...

I did a midnight hike there, a few years ago. I left around 2-3am, determined to face the darkness, using only fullmoon-light to guide me. The idea excited me for weeks, and I was so eager for the next fullmoon to finally happen !
After I had driven into the woods, I sat an entire hour in the car, reconsidering the entire thing. It was much darker than expected... and the thought of the upcoming hour-long walk through the wilderness definitely intimated me. It really felt like a dumb idea at that moment.
But eventually, I forced myself to leave the car and walk the first steps. Then a few more. And eventually, I went on, climbing up the paths.
I don't remember how long it took me to reach the summit of the ruin, but I remember that my timing was pretty much perfect. So I sat there, took the sandwich I had brought out of my bag, and waited for the sun to rise.
One of the most magical experiences of my life.
