Aaaah, The 7th Guest.
How much did I love that game as a teen.
I remember how I could play it for hours, even if failed to make any significant progress.
The atmosphere, the music, everything was so madly intense.
Isn't it insane how things have changed ?
Back then, in the early 90s, this original game was considered a milestone and groundbreaking new technology. It did things people had never seen before and elevated video games to a whole new level.
Back then, The 7th Guest was the holy grail of entertainment.
And now ?
Barely anyone remembers that it even existed.
How things have changed.
I had a similar love affair with its sequel, The 11th Hour. Man, those games were crazy.
And then it was gone.
Sure, there was this obscure fan game, the The 13th Doll, but no one even believed that this would ever be completed. It was just this, a wet fan dream.
A few years later then, in 2013, the original creator of the series came back from the dead and launched a Kickstarter campaign for this long expected sequel, The 7th Guest 3: The Collector.
I immediately jumped on board ! Damn, we needed this game ! But alas, the campaign failed utterly.
And once again, we were left with a void impossible to fill.
And then, out of shadows, the previously mentioned fan game resurfaced. And it grew strong, got support from the original creator, and they launched a campaign of their own, and it was a success, and finally saw the light of the day.
Damn.
Crazy.
Henry Stauf was back !
Kinda regret that I didn't jump on this ship when it sailed off, but only managed to take a slacker seat, but hey, it's better than nothing !
And the game was nice ! Not amazing, but it helped fans scratch this long, long long overdue itch.
