Sometimes you really want to eat some fried eggs. It's just obsessing you, and you can already smell the oil, the heat, even the crusty texture of the eggwhite when it's perfectly crispy.
So you salivate the entire day about that, and comes the evening, you start cooking, and fuck, you make a wrong move and you break one of the eggyolks. That one's fucked already. But ok. It can be salvaged.
And then you break another one, and another one.
And at this point you get pissed, just say "fuck it all", quickly walk to the fridge, pick out whatever you can find, and and decide to turn your fried eggs into scrambled ones instead.
Welp, this here is basically the render equivalent of scrambled eggs.
Yup.
It's not what you expected, but it's the pretty tasty.
Except for the chalaza.
The chalaza can go fuck itself.
WTF chickens, that's fucking gross man.
Chicken.
Chicken man.
Chicken woman.
Fuck you.
Tech CrapWIPWelp, what else to add... the original project was a simple pose, I wanted to remake a pic I found online, a character standing in water, semi stretching, which highlighted all the delicious shapes and muscles. So in order to get there, I went through some of premade poses in order to find a good starting point which would make the further process easier, and then, once I used this one, I just like it all. So I played with the lighting a bit, and decided to finish this one instead.
This is technically a female pose, but I kept it nonetheless as it's still a perfect fit for him. It also strongly reminded of something she could have drawn ; she often drew him with such ambiguous poses, which I always adored as it added some kind of uncanny flair, something between animal and human. Hmm... really missing her. Ah welp...
But yep, so I kept that feminine elegance and decided to contrast it by making his body fur much more visible. That's also the reason why I used this cheap white highlight around the character, just to make it stand out dramatically.
Regarding the background, yeah, everything's accidental here too. One of my lighten attempts had randomly placed a gigantic moon right behind him, I like this, but the resolution was too small, so I hunted for something a bit more pleasing.
And then I also contrasted this rich blue & cold sky and moon with a much warmer desert.
And again, I pushed the vibrancy to the max. This reminded me of those postcards/posters that used to be sold in some stores, often depicting luxurious environments, waterfalls, skies or other surreal landscapes with such saturated colors.
Kitsch as fuck, but I still love 'em.
And even the title of this illustration is completely random. I was writing my comment, just getting carried away with my dumb egg story when I imagined me looking at my finished scrambled eggs. And as always, being disgusted at the sight of the chalaza. The chalaza is that white cable thingie that is also often wrongly compared to an umbilical cord. Naa, it's just a bit of protein used to fix the yolk in the white. It's the yolk's safety belt, kinda.
But yet, even knowing this, it still disgusts me everytime I see it. Weird, right ?
So yeah, after writing this final anecdote I decided to call the pic that way.
No thought went into this, it's just random. And yet, it somehow, strangely fits : Kat's slightly twisted pose, somewhat linking the cold sky and the warm earth. The little bridge between words. And everybody hates and wants to get rid of it.
Yup, that's Kat - yay !
Ok, well, guess I'll like chalaza now !
It's actually a pretty awesome word, I'm tempted to create a character just because of the sound of it.
Isn't it amazing how easy it is to bullshit ideas around ? I should have worked in academics and taught social sciences, lol.
