The Weeknd - "Blinding Lights"
You know when you know you fucked up ?
When you're a car company that hires a pretty talented artist for your incoming campaign, manage a deal together so he grants you the rights to use one of the songs of his forthcoming album, then tease the world for months with fragments of said song in TV ads, finally manage to reveal it entirely, and then - when a few months later, people don't even remember the brand of your fucking car, but they're still pleasantly haunted by the song instead.
But I'm really happy for the The Weeknd instead, great job dude !
So yeah, this is a scene I've been trying to make since I heard those fragments on TV... when was that, end of 2019 I think ? Damn... I'm fucking lazy...
To my defense, I never really knew how to build that scene, I had a couple of ideas, but no solid plan... and so said render project sadly drifted away into the ocean of the many many things I wanna do.
Til yesterday. Yesterday, during a meal, the song played on the radio, and this brought it all back.
So today I decided to give it a try, and you know what ? I'm satisfied !
Sure, it's not really how I imagined it, but I don't care, it's fine.
Fun-fact : once I was done with all my postwork, I had a rather clean version, but I still wanted to make it somewhat more dramatic and intense... so I went to my Raw filter and ramped up a couple of sliders to the max, intentionally over-saturating and over-graining the entire thing. And damn, I loved that !
Happy me.
Bout the story ?
Dunno.
Is it still rage ? Yeah, guess it is still rage.
But rage is good. Rage is true.
And it's better to drive it out, right ?
Not let it consume you.
But some demons also need to be born...
Tears dropping from the heavens...
Fireballs racing through the night...
Shattering the ground, burning it all down.
Better annihilate the earth than the sky, eh ?
Oh, wait, isn't that the oldest story of the world ?
So I'm wondering, Lucifer - what was her name ?
